Jack Ocwieja joins SPBA
The Southern Peninsula Basketball Association are delighted to announce the final signing for our Senior Men’s team for the 2019 season with Jack Ocwieja joining the team this week.
Jack grew up playing Basketball in the bayside suburbs of Melbourne, however, has been travelling the globe in recent years, playing the game we all love.
After finishing at Grambling State University in the United States of America, Jack has since played in Great Britain, Italy, Germany as well as in the Queensland Basketball League.
At 6’11” with a 7’1” wing span, Ocwieja will bring some incredibly valuable size to our BigV Men’s program.
Senior Men’s Head Coach, Lucas Allen is thrilled with the signing “we could not be more excited to sign Jack for the remainder of the 2019 season. Jack has plenty of experience, having played in numerous different competitions, we look forwards to him bringing that experience to our team. A lack of size has been a clear deficit of our team so far in 2019 and we believe that the addition of Jack will help propel our team forwards”
Ocwieja is excited to again play close to home and the opportunities available to him “it is important to me to be able to play, learn new things and be pushed to improve, and having been speaking to the Sharks for a few months now, I am confident that we’re a great fit for each other. I’m going to have the opportunity to grow my game but most importantly, I believe I can be the final piece to the puzzle for a team pursuing a championship”.
Jack’s first game will be our Round 9 clash against Camberwell at Rosebud Stadium on May 18th. The Senior Women play at 5:30pm v Casey whilst our Senior Men will play at 7:30pm.
